G1 Travers Stakes winner KEEN ICE returned victorious in the G2 Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park on Saturday, running down Shaman Ghost to win by three lengths.

A son of Curlin, in whom Schumer Bloodstock was awarded a contract by the US Government to sell a 20% share in 2015, Keen Ice was bred by Glencrest Farm out of Medomak, bought by Chad as agent for $80,000 at the 2012 Keeneland November Sale.

A tough performer who has acquitted himself well in top company for the past three seasons, Keen Ice now boasts earnings in excess of $3 million.

His win in the Travers Stakes at Saratoga, in which he conquered Triple Crown hero American Pharoah, stands out as the highlight of his career to date. The colt has also recorded top three finishes in the G1 Belmont Stakes, G1 Breeders' Cup Classic, G1 Haskell Invitational, G2 Harlan's Holiday Stakes, G2 Remsen Stakes and G2 Risen Star Stakes.

Keen Ice is the first foal out of his dam, an Awesome Again half-sister to the G1-placed Coal Play. In turn, Medomak is out of the Kris S mare Wiscasset, a half-sister to G1 winner Serra Lake.

Medomak was bought on behalf of Saudi Arabian interests. Sadly, she has died since her purchase.
