As both a buyer and consignor at the leading North American auctions, Chad has an understanding of the market that allows for the acquisition of sometimes bargain priced bloodstock which often escalates in value very quickly.
Pinhooking is essentially buying to resell, much like commodities or stocks. There are many different categories such as weanling to yearling, yearling to two-year-old, and broodmare prospect to in-foal mare. Horses can be pinhooked for as little as a couple thousand dollars or as much as hundreds of thousands.
Chad's pinhooking history includes scores in the US as well as Europe, notably:
A Distorted Humor colt purchased privately out of Book 1 of the Keeneland September Sale for $20,000 in 2020; reoffered through partners Church Farm Stables and Horse Park Stud in Britain, he resold as a 2yo for 260,000gns
A Point Of Entry colt purchased out of Book 5 of the Keeneland September Sale for $35,000 in 2020: reoffered through partners Church Farm Stables and Horse Park Stud in Newmarket, he resold as a 2yo for £160,000
A Tapwrit colt purchased for $47,000 as a weanling at the 2021 Keeneland January Sale: he went on to top the JCSA yearling auction in Saudi Arabia when reselling for 620,000SAR – approximately $170,000
