UPCOMING SALE: SEPT 11 – 23 – KEENELAND SEPTEMBER YEARLING SALE

Flurry of winners highlight big weekend

An excellent weekend for Schumer Bloodstock closed on Sunday with three individual winners, all out of mare purchases.

At Monmouth Park, Lady d’Oro romped in the 5f maiden to become the first winner for Claiborne Farm’s Catholic Boy. The filly is out of Popstar, bought by us for $37,000 on behalf of clients while in foal to Instagrand at the 2022 Keeneland January Sale. In fact, we once bought her own dam Catstar as well.

Meanwhile at Woodbine, Proud Speaker cruised to victory in the 7f maiden. The Mr Speaker filly is out of She Stands Proud, a recent $25,000 purchase in foal to Silent Name. The day concluded with a win for former stakes scorer First Empire in allowance company. Now the earner of over $230,000, the Classic Empire colt is out of $135,000 purchase Silsita.

Their wins followed hot on the heels of that of Monaasib – out of $33,000 purchase Baragah – in the John Henry Stakes at Evangeline Downs and the eight-length romp of Northern Invader – out of $18,000 purchase Androeah – in a MSW at Belmont Park, both on Saturday.
