A smashing nine-length win by Sunny River (pictured) capped an excellent day for Schumer Bloodstock at Riyadh in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
Purchased by Chad Schumer at the 2022 Keeneland November Sale, the daughter of Arrogate carried HRH Prince Sultan bin Mishal bin A/Aziz’s colours to victory in the fillies maiden, pulling clear under hands and heels for an emphatic victory. Such was the impressive manner of her win that Sunny River looks more than capable of holding her own at a higher level, as befits her pedigree; bred by Juddmonte Farms, she is out of the stakes-placed South Bank, a Tapit daughter of the English and French 1,000 Guineas winner Special Duty.
Also on Thursday, yearling purchase Al Moassess ran out the easy winner of the maiden for owner Abdullah Ibrahim A Alkhashan. The son of Street Boss was purchased by Chad Schumer as agent for just $20,000 as a Keeneland September yearling.
There was further success a day later at Riyadh in the victory of Yaa Naah in the day’s feature event, the Rashed A. Alzenedi Award. By Schumer Bloodstock purchase Harlington, he is out of Thundering Heat, who was purchased by us for just $13,000 to continue her career in Saudi Arabia. The three-year-old colt races for Alassail Stable – many congratulations to all connections.
