It was an outstanding day in Saudi Arabia for Schumer Bloodstock on Friday with no fewer than three winners on the Riyadh card. Another two, Albesheereyah and Sameh Alkhatter, were by stallions sourced by us to stand in Saudi Arabia in Harlington and First Defence.
The finish to the feature event of the day, the G3 Japan Cup, was fought out by Prince Sultan bin Mishal bin Aziz’s Off The Map and Just For Sul, both of whom were bought as 2yos by Chad Schumer.
Off The Map, a daughter of Liam’s Map who cost just $30,000, ran out the impressive two-length winner to record her third successive victory and bring her race record to five wins. In second was the Justify filly Just For Sul (pictured), herself a highly talented four-time winner who won last year’s renewal.
Prince Sultan’s colours were also carried to victory by Call Me Michievous in the maiden. The son of Into Mischief was purchased by Chad Schumer as a Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling.
There was also success for Turki Naif Aldhaina as the owner of Golden Sul, who was successful in a maiden earlier on the card. The Goldencents colt was purchased by Schumer Bloodstock out of the OBS March Sale.
