Stakes success for Monaasib; dam a Schumer purchase

Monaasib, out of Schumer Bloodstock purchase Baragah, extended his winning sequence with a head upset in the Listed John Henry Stakes at Evangeline Downs on Saturday.

Trained by Alison Escobar, the Medaglia d’Oro colt was winning for the fourth time. Bred by Shadwell Farm LLC, he is a half-brother to British winner Aldawhaj and out of Baragah, an Awesome Again daughter of top US turf mare Golden Apples. Baragah was purchased by Chad Schumer as agent for $33,000 in 2019 while in foal to Tamarkuz.

Also on Saturday, Northern Invader made the most of a switch to turf to break his maiden at Belmont Park by no fewer than eight lengths. A big future surely beckons for the Collected colt, who was bred by Anderson Farms and Peter Berglar out of Androeah – the Arch mare was purchased by Chad Schumer as agent for $18,000 while carrying a full sibling to Northern Invader in 2020.
