Redesdale’s first-crop son Ramblin’ Wreck captured his second stakes on Thursday when successful in the Rick Violette Stakes at Saratoga.
Initially beaten just a nose into second by Let’s Go Big Blue, Ramblin’ Wreck was awarded the stakes in the stewards’ room.
In the process, the three-year-old took his record to three wins for earnings of almost $340,000. The Danny Garvan-trained gelding , who races for Dean Reeves Racing, Peter Searles and Patty Searles, has also won the New York Stallion Stakes at Belmont Park and run placed in the New York Stallion Series Stakes, New York Stallion Series Stakes and Central Park Stakes.
Redesdale was the brilliant winner of his first three starts before injury curtailed his career. He boasts a true stallion’s pedigree as a Speightstown son of Grade 1 winner Harpia, a full-sister to breed-shaping sire DANEHILL. Redesdale also descends directly from Natalma, the dam of NORTHERN DANCER.
Redesdale’s first crop also includes the stakes-placed Midtown Lights and Red Moon.
Redesdale stands at McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds in New York.
