It was further underlined on Saturday what a bargain buy Secret Quality is turning out to be when her 3yo daughter Drop The Hammer romped in a maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park.
The daughter of Gun Runner joins Valdivia, a multiple scorer at the Dubai Carnival this season, as winners of the past month out of Secret Quality (pictured), who was bought for a bargain $7,000 by Chad Schumer and KGS at the 2024 Keeneland November Sale despite being in foal to leading first-crop sire Complexity.
Making only her third start for owner N Theory Racing and trainer Mark Casse on Saturday, Drop The Hammer wasn’t seriously challenged to win the extended 7f contest by nearly four lengths.
Valdivia, who came out on top in a competitive handicap at Meydan ten days ago for Sultan Ali, and Drop The Hammer are only the second and third foals out of Secret Quality (pictured), an Elusive Quality relation to G3 winner Ask Me No Secrets.
Secret Quality now boasts three winners from as many foals. She also has a yearling filly by Jack Christopher.
Also on Saturday, Sister Carlie broke her maiden on her second start at Turfway Park. The Tommy Humphries-trained daughter of Catholic Boy was bred by Yancy Williams out of Schumer Bloodstock mare purchase Indian Carlie.
